Student screening Process

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Please use the following form to screen your child each morning before sending him/her to school. If you answered “YES” to any of the symptoms listed, DO NOT send your child to school, unless your child has ongoing, existing conditions and symptoms (ie. chronic allergies).

Consult your health care provider, or call 811 to determine whether your child needs to be tested for Covid-19 and when your child can return to school.

Covid-19 travel update

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

CPHO has given direction that any Islanders who have traveled to the provinces of Nova Scotia or New Brunswick within the last week (since November 16), are being advised to follow the following Public Health Guidance:

-Closely monitor for symptoms
-Wear a mask or face covering at all times (including outdoors)
-Limit your contacts
-Practice good hand hygiene
-Physically distance when possible

The PSB supports this direction.

Dr. Morrison has indicated that students who have traveled to the areas listed above should continue to attend school while following the enhanced Public Health Guidance listed above.  In addition, for students who have traveled to NS or NB within the last week, they should not be participating in organized activities outside the regular school day for 14 days from the date of return.  This would include community based activities as well as any before or after school activities, such as school basketball teams, after school tutoring, before school band practice, before/after school clubs, etc.  We would ask that students not be penalized if they are required to follow this Public Health Guidance.

Anyone experiencing symptoms should immediately visit a drop-in testing clinic to be tested, and self-isolate.  princeedwardisland.ca/covidtesting

For a list of possible exposure locations in the Maritime provinces, go to princeedwardisland.ca/possibleexposure.

Please refer to the Government of PEI website for ongoing and updated information.  https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/covid19

Thanks,
Marsha

Parent/Teacher Interviews

After further discussions with the Chief Public Health Office and the DELL, some amendments to the parent teacher interview parameters are required. Below, please find the parameters communicated last week with the amendments highlighted in bold.

Parent Teacher Interviews

  • All staff and parents are required to wear non-medical masks, except when seated a minimum of 6-feet apart during the interview.
  • Hand sanitizer should be provided and its use promoted at entrances, exits and other common areas throughout the school.
  • For in-person interviews, only one parent/guardian per child should be in attendance.
-No students or other children should be in attendance.
-If a parent/guardian is not able to attend in-person, alternative arrangements should be made.
  • Parents should be asked to limit their time at the school to the interview time in order to minimize the number of people in the school at a given time.
  • Student-led conferences should not be held at this time.
  • Parents should be made aware of the layout and flow measures, so they are comfortable with where to go for the interviews.
  • Parents are not required to sign in at the entrance but are expected to sign in with every teacher they meet. These sign-in sheets should be provided to the Principal immediately following PT Interviews.
  • Reasonable steps should be taken to minimize the number of parents coming into the school at the same time.
  • Reasonable steps should be taken to maintain physical distancing between parents from different households and between parents and teachers.
